About Course
Understanding Psychological Motivation in Aesthetic Medicine
Self-Paced eLearning Module
Understanding why patients seek aesthetic treatment is an important part of psychologically informed aesthetic practice. This module explores the psychological, social, and cultural factors that influence treatment motivation, emotional readiness, and patient expectations. Participants will examine appearance ideals, social comparison, psychological vulnerability, and unrealistic expectations, alongside the role these factors may play within consultation practice.
The module also introduces psychologically informed approaches to consultation, including the use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) such as FACE-Q, together with structured clinical management and readiness tools including The PAT and CRQ. Through reflection and practical application, participants will consider how greater understanding of patient motivation can support safe, ethical, and patient-centred care.
