About Course
Module Two: Understanding Psychological Motivation in Aesthetic Medicine
Supporting clinicians to better understand patient motivation, emotional readiness, and psychologically informed consultation practice.
Why do patients really seek aesthetic treatment? This module explores the psychological, social, and cultural factors that shape treatment motivation, emotional readiness, and patient expectations. Participants will examine the impact of appearance ideals, social comparison, psychological vulnerability, and unrealistic expectations on consultation outcomes and patient wellbeing.
The module also introduces the role of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), including FACE-Q, alongside structured clinical management and readiness tools such as The PAT and CRQ to support safer, more reflective, and ethically informed consultations.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this module, participants will be able to:
- Describe key psychological, social, and cultural factors influencing patient motivation.
- Identify motivating factors linked to psychological vulnerability or unrealistic expectations.
- Recognise how beauty myths shape treatment decisions and readiness.
- Explain the value of structured psychological assessment in safe, ethical practice.
- Outline the role of psychological assessment tools, validated screening tools, and patient-reported outcome measures in aesthetic practice.
- Reflect on consultation approaches to identify areas for deeper insight.
Estimated Completion Time
Approx. 75–90 minutes.
To successfully complete this module and receive your certificate of completion, participants will be required to complete a multiple-choice assessment with a minimum pass mark of 80%.

Getting the Most from Your Learning Experience
We all learn in different ways. This module combines presenter-led teaching, voice-over learning, subtitles, and accompanying slides. You are encouraged to pause throughout the module to read the slides, reflect on the content, and make notes using the notes section below each lesson video, using your own notepad, or within your accompanying workbook to support your learning and consultation practice.
Subtitles are available throughout the module and can be activated using the CC button within the video player.
Creating Your Learning Environment
To support your learning experience, you may wish to minimise distractions where possible by silencing notifications, turning off emails, using headphones, maximising your screen, and creating a comfortable space for reflection and note taking throughout the module.
This training has been developed for aesthetic clinicians, practitioners, and professionals working within the aesthetics industry who are seeking to enhance psychologically informed consultation practice and patient care.
